01 / The Premise

Fear is a tactile landscape.

We do not assemble jumpscares. We cultivate atmosphere. For over thirty years, we have worked with twenty-one acres of dense Maryland woodland in Dickerson, shaping the physical dark into an experience of deep, psychological tension. Markoff’s Haunted Forest is a slow descent into the woods—built for those who appreciate the poetry of suspense.

02 / The Architecture

The geometry of the woods.

Our design philosophy is architectural. We approach our mile-long trail not as a simple walk, but as a choreography of negative space, shadow, and absolute silence. By letting the natural canopy of the Dickerson forest perform the heaviest lifting, we rely on the elements—the sudden drop in temperature, the rustle of dry oak leaves, the deep dark of rural Maryland—to build anticipation.

Every structure we construct is built with heavy timber, reclaimed materials, and a deliberate absence of modern distraction. The goal is complete immersion. When you step onto the trail, you leave the contemporary world behind and enter a space where the woods themselves feel alive and watching.

03 / The Threshold

Where the trail ends, the town begins.

Beyond the mile-long canopy lies 'The Town'—our highly physical, immersive environment engineered to test the limits of your resolve. And when the heart needs a moment to settle, Markoff's Midway and the Cursed Village offer a distinct release: smoke, fire, and live audio to ground your senses.
